NATAL, Brazil – Early Friday morning, Federal Police (PF) in north-eastern Brazil arrested a 20-year-old woman for cocaine trafficking. Police say that the woman was carrying 2.1 kg (4.6 lbs) of pure cocaine hidden inside a fake belly, which made her appear to be pregnant.
According to the PF, the arrest came in the early hours of Friday morning at the Augusto Severo International Airport, located just south of Natal. The woman arrived at the airport alone and carrying only hand luggage. Police suspected her demeanor.
Police approached and questioned the woman and she confessed to carrying drugs. She said that she received an offer of money to bring the drugs from Mato Grosso do Sul state, in central-west Brazil, but she would not give any information on who offered her the money.
The woman as well as the 25-year-old man who was waiting for her at the airport were arrested for drug trafficking and taken to jail. The man claims that he didn’t know that the woman, who he claims was just an acquaintance, was carrying drugs.
