| SAO PAULO – American actor Zac Efron caused an uproar when he landed at Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo Tuesday morning. The 24-year-old movie actor from California is best known for playing the character Troy in the ‘High School Musical’ films.
Zac, who is in the country for a marathon tour to promote a brand of jeans, was instantly surrounded by teenagers who wanted to be photographed with him. Sympathetic, the former boyfriend of American actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens smiled and waved to fans as he was hustled through the airport by handlers.
The Hollywood heartthrob will reportedly visit three cities around the state of Sao Paulo on Tuesday and leave the country tomorrow. He starts his tour in Ribeirao Preto, 313 km (194 mi) from Sao Paulo to promote John John brand jeans. Stars Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton have all previously appeared at promotions for the Brazilian brand.
Two hours after leaving Ribeirao Preto, he will appear in Campinas, 93 km (58 mi) from Sao Paulo. A few hours later he returns to Sao Paulo city. In each location, Zac – who is traveling by helicopter – will be visiting clothing boutiques for closed-door events.
Efron next appears in the animated film ‘The Lorax,’ which opens in theaters this Friday, March 2nd.
The public won’t be able get close to him until he leaves for North America from Guarulhos tomorrow morning. Airport officials and security personnel are bracing for another mob scene at the airport as the teen idol passes through on his way home.
