A lawyer for the model said Sunday that he was only shooting a “pellet gun” and the act was in celebration of the birth of his son.
According to police, the condominium association, neighbors and witnesses, the shooting occurred after a fight between the model and wife Camila Lamoglia. The building security guards called police after hearing the sound of gunfire. Police used images from the association’s security cameras to identify Alvaro as the gunman.
When police arrived, Alvaro tried to escape, hiding in the woods and even running into the ocean, before officers caught him. Police did not find the gun Alvaro used, and the model claimed that he threw the gun in the sea.
Police booked Alvaro for shooting a firearm. The model posted R$1,866 reals (about $950) bail and was released.
Alvaro, who hails from Santa Catarina state, has modeled for major international brands such as Versace, Guess, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.
