RIO DE JANEIRO – B.B. King, the “King of the Blues” will tour southern Brazil in September and October 2012, reported online media. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba will play host to performances of the iconic blues guitarist and singer.
B.B. King’s 2012 Brazilian Tour Confirmed
Tickets for the Curitiba concert at the Teatro Guaíra on October 2nd went on sale Monday. Tickets cost between U.S. $200 and $400 dollars and are available at the venue box office on Rua XV de Novembro downtown Curitiba and online at www.teatroguaira.pr.gov.br.
Curitiba is the second stop on the B.B. King Brazil Tour 2012. The tour kicks off in Rio de Janeiro on September 29th. After Curitiba, the tour performs three shows in São Paulo on October 5th, 6th and 7th. The opening act in Curitiba is the local band Big Time Orchestra.
The Rio de Janeiro show on September 29th is at Vivo Rio in Flamengo. Tickets available at the box office or online at vivorio.com.br.
In São Paulo, the first two shows on the 5th and 6th are at the Via Funchal, in the Vila Olímpia neighborhood in the center of the city. Tickets available at the box office or online at viafunchal.com.br.

B.B. King appears regularly to sold out venues in Brazil. The 86-year-old performer ranks No. 6 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time and No. 17 in Gibson’s Top 50 Guitarists of All Time.
King “introduced a sophisticated style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato that would influence virtually every electric blues guitarist that followed,” says Edward M. Komara. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted King in 1987.
