RIO DE JANEIRO – Alanis Morissette will travel to Brazil in September to do eight shows, announced Time for Fun productions on Tuesday. The Canadian-American singer will tour the country to promote her seventh studio album, Havoc and Bright Light, which goes on sale August 28th.
Alanis Morissette Brazil 2012 Tour Dates
Morissette performs September 2nd and 3rd in São Paulo at Creditcard Hall. On the 5th in Curitiba at Master Hall. The 7th in Rio de Janeiro at Citibank Hall. The 9th in Belo Horizonte at Chevrolet Hall. On the 12th in Recife at Chevrolet Hall. On the 14th in Belém at Cidade da Folha and on the 16th in Goiânia at Goiânia Arena.
This is the first album from Alanis in four years. The last was Flavors of Engagement in 2008. The singer, now 38, began her career in the early 1990s in her native Canada. She gained worldwide fame five years later, with the album Jagged Little Pill, which sold over 33 million copies.
Maverick Records released Jagged Little Pill internationally in 1995. The album was expected only to sell enough for Morissette to make a follow-up, but the situation changed quickly when KROQ-FM, an influential Los Angeles modern rock radio station, began playing “You Oughta Know”, the album’s first single. The song instantly garnered attention for its scathing, explicit lyrics, and a subsequent music video went into heavy rotation on MTV and MuchMusic.
Her second international album Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, released in 1998, was also successful. Morissette took up producing duties for her following albums, which include Under Rug Swept, So-Called Chaos and Flavors of Entanglement.
The star, who became an American citizen in 2005, has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. Morissette is known for her powerful and emotive mezzo-soprano voice.
